Raise A Glass | Anchor and Hops

Situated on the border between Merseyside and Greater Manchester, in the quaint suburb town of Stockton Heath, lies an independent craft beer shop and micro bar that’s proved very popular among its local patrons since it first opened its doors back in 2020 - The Anchor and Hops.

Conceptualised and brought to life by a former employee of Shrewsbury’s award-winning Salopian Brewery, Chris Kelly, the premises specialises in supplying only the finest craft-made beverages from right across the UK and the nearby European continent. Aiming to expand the knowledge of all its guests, the Anchor and Hops is the perfect place to discover different styles of beers whilst getting acquainted with and enjoying a broad assortment of tasty tipples.

A firm believer in championing the new wave of local Manchester breweries, pushing new ideas and bringing new flavours to the market, the Anchor and Hops always has a beer on tap, or in a bottle or a can, produced by neighbouring vendors. Served alongside some of North West England’s best craft-brewed ales and beers, we’re honoured to have Manchester Union Lager amongst the vast choice of drinks available on the menu. And it’s quite the menu to behold…

Upon paying the microbar a visit, you can expect to find between 350 and 400 contrasting cans of cold-stored craft beer on offer, with six ever-changing keg lines pouring thirst-quenching refreshments all day long. It’s all too easy to lose yourself and spend a full day here, working your way through the vast selection. Trust us, we know all too well. And should you only have the time to grab a quick scoop or two, the bar also has its own Crowler machine, allowing you to seal fresh measures of your favourite beverage into a can to take away. It doesn’t get much better than this!

For those whose tastes aren’t wholly sold on or accustomed to the hoppiness of craft ales and lagers, you’ll also find a multitude of alternative drinks options, ranging from bottled wines and prosecco’s to canned cocktails, ciders and sodas, for the teetotalers. All of the aforementioned can be acquired in the Anchor and Hops on-site shop. Gift vouchers and subscription boxes are also available from behind the till, making the perfect gift for the craft-beer enthusiast or the hard-to-buy-for special someone in your life who enjoys a drink.

Surrounded by countless fellow independent businesses, including a list of top-rated dining establishments, serving everything from European to Asian cuisines, a trip to Stockton Heath, and especially the Anchor and Hops, is well worth the visit.
